Inequality-adjusted HDI (IHDI): Viet Nam’s HDI for 2013 is 0.638. However, when the value is discounted for inequality, the HDI falls to 0.543, a loss of 14.9 percent due to inequality in the distribution of the dimension indices. Thailand and the Philippines show losses due to inequality of 20.7 percent and 18.1 percent respectively. The average loss due to inequality for medium HDI countries is 25.6 percent and for East Asia and the Pacific it is 19.7 percent. The Human inequality coefficient for Viet Nam is equal to 14.9 percent.
