EIB examines the impact of GHG emissions in tons CO2 equivalents, taking into account 7 gases included in the
Kyoto Protocol: CO2, CH4, N2O, HFC, PFC, SF6 and NF3. Another feature of the EIB methodology refers to the
emission levels included in the analysis:
Scope 1 and 2 are mandatory (direct emissions generated within the project boundaries, and indirect emissions:
electricity, heating, etc. that can be generated outside the project boundaries);
Scope 3 will be included only in certain projects (transportation) or in those projects where the upstream or
downstream facility is100% dedicated to the analyzed project.
