A mixture containing 5 ml of Bi(NO3)3 (1 M), 0.052 g of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), and 5 ml of EG was stirred at room temperature for 10 min before 16 ml of hydrazine hydrate was added into the solution and stirred at room temperature for another 10 min after that the solution was transferred into a three-neck flask and maintained at a temperature-controlled water bath of 80 °C, stirring was continued for additional 22 h, Bi nanotubes of 100–200 nm in length were achieved.
