Throughout the discussion in this chapter it can be seen that Thailand has relentlessly attempted to build its regional leadership by various means in the post-Cold War period. However, the important question here is why Thailand does not seem to be able to sustain its leadership status despite the aspirations. This leadership sustainability mainly owns to a number of Thailand’s domestic factors: political leadership discontinuity, poor co-ordination, weak private sector, and the role of military including current political crisis.
