Middle of the World City is located on an equator equator or in an enchanted valley where it divides the world into two hemispheres: North and South. He is also the meeting point of the most colorful displays of culture and folk art.
The Equatorial Monument, is located at latitude zero degrees zero minutes and zero seconds. Named for its shape-square pyramid with four monoliths in the corners, have the geographical orientation of the four cardinal points.
Inside the monument is the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, where you can learn more about the history and ethnic groups in the four regions of Ecuador. Also you can see documents, maps and records of the French Geodesic Mission.
Upon entering the City Center of the World is an avenue in which stand stone busts of members of the French Geodesic Mission that visited the Ecuadorian territory in 1736 to participate in the measurement of longitude. To the left of the avenue, you can see four pavilions, that of Spain, France, Germany and of course that of Ecuador, each of them presented a scientific and cultural themes. It also has other attractions such as narrow streets, houses entejadas, a meeting place for arts and culture which is the central plaza, the chapel and the bullring.
Around the central square are shops where visitors can see and purchase a wide variety of items like clothing, leather goods, stone, wood and tagua. It also has jewelry, art galleries, travel agencies, ice cream parlors, cafes and restaurants.
