Chicken manure (CM) is a waste feedstock that has a high
recoverable energy potential as it is easily degradable in an AD system
(Wang et al., 2014). This material has a high protein content,
however, which releases ammonia when hydrolysed and although
this can increase the buffering capacity of the AD process, the overall
C/N ratio is only 5–10 (Yangin-Gomec and Ozturk, 2013).
