Without
appropriate recovery, performance is likely to be compromised
(Oliver et al., 2007) and thus if athletes are to
recovery rapidly and effectively a complete understanding
of how periods of fluid and/ or energy restriction effect
fluid as well as electrolyte balance is of vital importance.
The aim of the current study was therefore to investigate
the effects of a 24 hr period of fluid, energy or combined
fluid and energy restriction on fluid and electrolyte balance
in humans, and to compare this to the response of
a control trial.
