In speaking together in more or less dialogical or argumentative
settings, not only do we learn from what others say or do about what
they claim, but we learn still more from the way they do it. From the
reasons they give, we learn about what others want or believe. But from
the way they talk and act, from their style, we learn about who they
are, ‘what they are like’, what sort of ‘character someone has (or is)’.
