BETTER FUTURE
The name of my final project is better future. When I saw this topic the first question came up on my thinking is what thing can make my life better in the future. So I choose an innovation of packaging and brand design to support my idea. In my opinion, a packaging is the first thing to get attention from a customer when looking at a product. I am the one person who always interest with a design of packaging especially shape, colour, and design. Brand and packaging design are playing a role in our life, many packaging and products in nowadays are developed their product to concern with the environment and focus on a benefit of the customer. In addition, they also look forward to the part of a product in the future as well. This essay will first explain about an idea of three designers, and then will be explained by look at the different of their materials and compare a strength point of their design.
The first designer that I interested her name is Emily Myers she is a British designer who rebrands of Young’s Seafood in the United Kingdom. The purpose of her idea is to let people understand about the important of sustainability from the story of Young’s Seafood shop through her packaging and branding. The second designer is Maja Szczypek. She has created her packaging for eggs named Happy egg. Her concept was related with environment by using sustainable materials and also encouraging people concern to maintain the environment by use a natural product. The last one of designer that I interested is Neretin stas. He is a Russian designer his product is quite different from other designers above also his idea did not concern with environment or sustainable of design but it really get my attention in the part of innovation design. He created a packaging for cosmetic name Naked in concept delicate and gentle. He combined a design with an innovation by playing with the reaction from a human touch. The special thing of this packaging is when people touching the package that area will turn to red as a human skin when we getting shy, it sensitive with warming from human as Neretin stas said, ‘be gentle with this package, it is very shy. These are the concepts and their Idea of the three designers who created a packaging and brand design in this century.
Secondly, as this part, I will show and compare how different of they material. Emily Myers created her packaging for wrapping a product by design a pattern first and printed it out on a paper she also applied the typography on the pattern design as an old newspaper. Moreover, this pattern can identify about the heritage and experience of Young’s Seafood shop perfectly. While Maja Szczypek designs her packaging in a different way. The structure of her packaging made from cutting hay and put in the heat-pressing process to build a shape for support the eggs. In the point of her view, she thinks hay is natural and renewable material also the customer can get the natural smell and touch a real texture as natural from the packaging amazingly. On the other hand, Neretin stas created his packaging by the unique way. The design has an inspiration from the curves of human body form. He applied a colour as a human skin that concern with the name of this product (Naked) as well. He used the special technique called the Thermochromic pigments in this packaging. The special thing about this technique is it so sensitive to a temperature, particularly when the temperature getting warm they will change to another colour. So when people touching the package they would feel gentle and that is the message from the brand try to send to a customer. Neretin stas can combine the innovation and his design to created the package also link with the concept completely.
All of the three designers created their packaging in a different way and used verities type of material to support their idea but everyone has a strength point. As Emily Myers has a good point with the story of sustainability by let people understand about the history of Young’s Seafood shop by used a simple design, her design have a lot detail of the story than other designers while Maja Szczypek used the natural material attract people to realize with environment she does not have any story like Emily Myers but her packaging would be useful and have a benefit for the world in a real life. Neretin stas did not have a story and his work did concern with environment as Emily Myers and Maja Szczypek but his packaging has the individual appealing to play with the human emotion and also get attention from people by used an innovation add a value of his packaging.
