10:00am Thursday, October 1, 2015...90W Update...
***JTWC has designated 90W as Tropical depression 22W***
The JTWC (Joint Typhoon Warning Center) has designated 90W INVEST as tropical depression 22W.
Below is a MTSAT visible satellite photograph of 22W. Also posted in the JTWC official forecast.
22W is expected to achieve minimal tropical storm strength, before crossing over the central Philippines tonight and tomorrow. The system is expected to maintain strength as it crosses, and then strengthen slightly as it exits into the South China Sea tomorrow evening.
All regions of southern, central, and the mountainous, provinces of Luzon can expect rain to increase through the day today. These provinces will also experience occasionally gusty winds, especially in the thunderstorm squall lines. Some landslides could be possible in higher terrain. Some flooding could occur in low-lying areas.
Rain will begin to decrease today in northern Mindanao, and the eastern Visayas. Palawan and western Visayas will continue to see plentiful showers and occasionally gusty winds through the day.
If the present scenario persists, western Luzon could see the heaviest rain starting tomorrow night as 22W gets stronger and brings in the SW'ly flow.
