( 3 ). The markers that were monitored in this study included C-reactive protein, nitric oxide, and tumor necrosis factor-α. C-reactive protein and nitric oxide decreased 18% to 25% by the end of the study. The third inflammation marker, tumor necrosis factor-α, was not changed. The decreases in the C-reactive protein and nitric oxide are consistent with results of other scientists’ earlier in vitro studies of cherry extracts and suggest this may be beneficial in the management of inflammatory diseases.
