CLIMAX
The climax of the novel is during Charles Darnay’s second trial in Paris (third in the book, this man is rebellious, unfortunate or just plain stupid). His accusers are read out (being the revolutionist Defarges), but there is surprise and disbelief when Dr. Manette, Mr. Darnay’s own father in law is called out. Mr. Defarge pulls out a letter written by Manette when he spent jail time in the Bastille that reveals to the court that Mr. Darnay is in fact descended from French Aristocracy, namely the villainous yet now deceased Marquis of Evremonde.
