There were several limitations of this workplace intervention study.
There was no control group, and the self-selection process for
participants may have led to selection bias, including reasonably
motivated, mostly female participants, and a large number of
initially enrolled participants were already reaching the physical
activity target of ≥150 minutes per week. A previous study found
that a physical activity intervention using pedometers was more
effective in already active participants,30 however, our intervention
had a positive effect with initially inactive participants
