The finding that 5 weeks of SD did not induce dormancy
(although restraining growth) and that transfer to LD conditions
fully reversed the SD-induced growth restriction resulting in
normal development of leaves and flower trusses in the absence
of chilling (Figs. 2 and 3), also explains the success of the
Norwegian winter strawberry production system, in which such
a strategy has been practiced (Sønsteby et al., 2004).
