This is to let you know there will be a forklift check and operation training as per the attached schedule, this is to make sure the forklift and our warehouse forklift operation comply the below standards:
Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld)
Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (Qld)
Electrical Code of Practice 2010, Working Near Exposed Live Parts
How to Manage Work Health and Safety Risks Code of Practice 2011
AS 2359.12:1996 Powered industrial trucks Part 1: General requirements
During our recent audit we found there are the following work unsafe practices:
● Workers frequently stand under the elevated forks.
● Workers frequently smoke on-the-job, including while conducting refuelling and maintenance checks on the forklifts.
● Workers remove back-rest extensions and overhead guards of the forklifts without authorisation.
● Forklifts are parked in confined spaces with the engine running.
● Forklifts are parked on inclines and being driven on inclines with forks raised unnecessarily.
● Passengers are carried on forks.
● Workers operate forklifts without performing checks.
● There have been a large number of near misses with forklifts and pedestrian traffic sharing same routes.
We hope the upcoming training will be helpful to improve WHS in our warehouse and make everyone safe in the work.
Kind regards,
