Rural land consolidation
Human-land relationship in rural China has changed dramatically since 1978. The non-agricultural transformation of rural peasants and land has led to aggravated development of hollowing villages which is characterized as abandonment and waste of residential land. Thus, rural land consolidation becomes the key strategy of coordinating urban-rural land allocation and new countryside construction. The rural land consolidation refers to comprehensive consolidation of farmland, water, road, forest and villages, including the specific consolidation of farmland, village, industrial and mining land and unused land as well as the regional comprehensive consolidation of farmland, water, road, forest, town, village and houses. At present, rural land consolidation engineering has been implemented in several provinces like Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Hubei.
