Both natural products 1 and 2
inhibited PfFabI, the enoyl-ACP-reductase of P. falciparum
with modest IC50s of 12 and 4 mg/mL, respectively. Pseudopyronine
B (2) and pyrone 9 inhibited PfFabG, a b-ketoacylACP-reductase,
while none of the compounds tested inhibited
PfFabZ (b-hydroxyacyl-ACP-dehydratase).
