Dutch Architecture Has been used since 1200's Facts Has 4-6 floors Usual building materials
are wood and brick. Notable features are hoist beams, unique (bell, neck, step, spout) gables, and ornate facades. Buildings are narrow on the street, but extend back much farther. Buildings use many curved lines on the roof, curved and square windows are common. Informal balance and a
rough textures are common. Dark colors are used the most, with the exception of bright red. Dutch architectural style is used mostly in homes and commercial structures. Facts (continued) One architect who used this style was Philip Vingboons. He created the first neck gable. Dutch architecture is mostly used in the Netherlands.
