Icy conditions on the ramp/gate area may mean that the push-back vehicle may not be able to push with the
aircraft engines running due to poor traction on a slippery surface. In this case push-back to a position where
engines can be started and the taxi commence.
Taxiing may be commenced on uncleard surfaces at the discretion of the commander.
Be aware that idle thrust may be sufficient to move the aircraft forward even with the park brake set.
Engine nacelle anti-icing should be ON when the OAT is 10C or less and icing conditions exist. Ensure that
ALL probes and sensor heating elements are ON before taxiing. Taxi with caution since rutted areas can
cause steering problems. Neither aircraft or ground vehicles can stop quickly on slippery surfaces.
