Rebranding the Building
It is often said that a rising tide lifts all boats. Consider the truth of this simple aphorism in the context of recent developments on our side of the river.
Your Committee is determined to bring back some of the glamour which our building enjoyed when it was launched onto the Bangkok property market some 20 years ago. To that end we propose, for example, to turn our attractive building signage back on. The name of our building – picked out in lights - was turned off some time ago in an attempt, we assume, to try and save money.
This kind of approach, we believe is penny wise but pound foolish – particularly at a time when so much condo development is occurring on the Thonburi side of the river. We need to put our name back up in lights and encourage prospective purchasers / renters to beat a path to our newly attractive door.
Why is it, for example, that the cost of our units is languishing at around 70,000 baht per square metre when others nearby are selling for between 200,000 – 300,000 per square metre? Of course 20 years on we’re starting to look tired. Our building is in need of an overhaul: the public areas are beginning to look shabby. Time for a facelift perhaps. May be that would be going too far but certainly time for a tasteful make-over which would help lift the old girl’s spirits - as well as our own.
One suggestion is to light up the beautiful palm trees we have along the river front – possibly in the same colours as our new flag but probably in something rather more sedate. Residents at the front of the building will be surveyed shortly to see how they feel about such a proposal. Perhaps these lights will only be used on special days and turned off early (say 10 pm) so as not to disturb anyone’s sleep. This proposal would be a cheap & easy way to attract attention and generate interest.
New uniforms (redesigned Polos in Blue & Gold) have been ordered and will replace the dull grey ones currently being worn by staff. Is it often said that ‘presentation is everything’. Of course it is not everything – image without substance is pointless – but presentation does matter and we need to take account of that. If we can take advantage of the increasing interest in and activity on our side of the river by rebranding ourselves as a highly desirable place to live, we will attract new owners and renters and automatically increase the value of our properties.
