Between 2006 and 2009, a series of intensive bat sur- veys were carried out in Vietnam and China, with particular emphasis on rhinolophoid bats. Among a large number of specimens belonging to the “philippinensis-group” obtained from the surveys was an adult male from China that was clearly distinct. Investigation of morphological, dental, and bacular features indicated that the specimen differs from all known taxa of Rhinolophus, and represents a new and as yet undescribed species.
