(1) Acquire the stress–strain characteristics of the measured
material. We should use authoritative material
properties data directly or experimentize in a
material testing machine.
(2) Make some quantitative analysis for the main Brinell
hardness measurement conditions such as temperature,
force holding time, force value.
(3) Use the results of step 1 and step 2 to make a finite
element analysis for the whole measurement process.
The analysis should base on material Brinell
hardness measurement principle. In this step, maximum
stress, minimum stress, indentation diameter
and indentation depth can be calculated by
computer.
(4) Calibrate all the types and distribution intervals of
measurement error sources.
(5) Generate random numbers to simulate all measurement
error sources according to Monte Carlo
method, we set initial values for practical measurement
environmental variables, and then carry out
simulation calculations for the whole Brinell hardness
measurement process many times
