There were also differences in the way the subjects
worked. For example, the videotape recordings showed
how one operator adopted a lunge position to scan and
pack, and did not take steps at all at the short checkout.
Another operator walked 18% of the time, turning by
stepping rather than twisting her back (OWAS classifies
taking steps in the walking category). Such differences
are not apparent in the averages as presented in Table
3.
