There is a trend in other countries of enshrining the frequency of reviews of the MW in law so that employers will know when to expect any changes and are able to plan accordingly. Evidence shows that setting the frequency in the law increases public awareness of the process, which is crucial to ensuring an enriched and informed dialogue during the revision process. In addition, having a fixed and regular reviewing period is an advantage when economic conditions change unexpectedly. Moreover, since a review does not necessarily imply that the minimum wage level will be modified, it is a relatively costless
exercise with clear benefits.
