Dental treatment procedures frequently cause bleeding and exposure to infected blood, saliva aerosol and natural organic dust particles which are known means of infectious disease transmission such as hepatitis B and C, HIV, herpes and viral respiratory infection (Szymanska, 1999). Routine use of gloves, masks and spectacles help to prevent cross infection in dental clinics. However, special care should be paid to the management of their disposal, to the disposal of any material in contact with them and to the disinfection of the room and instruments between patients.
