2.7. Vibrio anguillarum growth in the presence of skin mucus
Antibacterial ability was tested for each skin mucus sample, as
described by Narvaez et al. (Narvaez et al., 2010). Briefly, V. anguillarum
was incubated in Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) at 37 °C until an optical density
(OD) of 0.2–0.3 at 620nmwas reached. Antibacterial activitywas determined
by incubating standard aliquots of 180 μL of a 1:100 dilution of
the bacterial suspension in duplicate to which 20 μL of each skinmucus
2.8. Statistical analysis
Results are expressed as the mean± standard error (SE). Data analysis
was performed in GraphPad Prism version 5.0 including normality
tests. All data were normally distributed. Statistically significant differences
were considered when p b 0.05. The qPCR measurements were
analyzed by T-test to identify statistically significant differences
between groups. One-way ANOVA and Tukey's post-hoc analysis test
were performed to identify statistically significant differences among
groups.
