Tissue culture studies on chrysanthemum were first initiated by Morel & Martin in 1952. They used meristem tip culture to obtain virus free plants. Now tissue culture is a necessary first step in the production of virus indexed chrysanthemums. It serves as a nuclear stock for the delivery of high quality cuttings (Debergh, 1994). Much work has been done on callogenesisand and organogensis of chrysanthemums.
