V. parahaemolyticus ATCC 17802 was used as a pathogenic strain for
the bacterial infection in this study. The strain was cultured as previously
described. At the end of the feeding trials, 15 shrimp from each aquarium
were transferred to a tank with 20 L of seawater containing 106
CFU/mL V. parahaemolyticus ATCC 17802 and were fed with commercial
diet. Besides, 15 shrimp from each aquarium were also transferred to a
tank with 20 L of seawater but without V. parahaemolyticus ATCC 17802
as positive controls. The culture conditions were the same as previously
mentioned but without a seawater change, and the survival rate for
each group was recorded for 5 days, which was called the survival
rate II.
