Job analysis is the process of describing and recording information about job behaviors and activities. Typically, the information described and recorded includes the - purposes of a job;
- major duties or activities required of job holders;
- conditions under which the job is performed; and
- competencies (i.e., skills, knowledge, abilities, and other attributes) that enable and enhance performance in the job.
In contrast to an organizational analysis, which focuses on the commonality across jobs, job analysis aims to explain the distinct features of particular jobs.
