BIG PICTURE
lntroduction
Adventure tourism and wildlife tourism are commonly treated as tow separate subsets of the outdoor tourism industry. A significant subsector of the adventure tourism industry, however, involves animals in various ways, and a significant proportion of wildlife tourism products incorporate features which are otherwise characteristic of the adventure tourism sector. There is thus a significant overlap between wildlife and adventure tourism - whether from product, management, or marketing perspectives. In addition, some adventure tourism products may create impacts on wildlife even though the wildlife are not featured as part of the product, and even if the product does not involve consumptive activities such as fishing or hunting.
