2. How should the public relations staff at Airbus respond to the articles appearing in The Economist, The Guardian, and Reuters News?
Both companies possess political influence on how they conduct their sales and it is crucial that both companies do something to secure their market share for future growth. The public relations staff at Airbus needed to respond in some way in order to uphold its public relation to the market and to the “general public.” It is skipping ahead a little bit, but on page 467 of the textbook we are informed that the role of public relations is to create good relationships with the “popular press” and other forms of media in order to” help communicate to customers, the general public, and governmental regulators.” It goes on to say, “The job consists of not only encouraging the press to cover positive stories about companies but also managing unfavorable rumors, stories, and event” (Pg. 467). The staff needs to ensure ethical behaviors and confirm that the company is under new management. They need to assure customer safety and satisfaction as well.
