‘pregnancy and are, therefore, putting both
themselves and their unborn babies at increased
risk of preterm delivery, low birth weight and
being admitted to the neonatal unit. Interestingly,
there were three perinatal deaths recorded for
women who were unhealthy in the first trimester,
compared to none in the healthy group.
Although no statistically significant findings were
established, the incidence of adverse perinatal
outcomes was almost doubled in women with
unhealthy lifestyle behaviours.
