Dear Khun Andreas,
I am wondering at my properties (AVK, WVA) mostly computers have 2 GB of RAM but some are 4 GB of RAM shall I need to upgrade theses computers to be 64bit to follow as standard or not?
Will it make computer performance slower than Windows OS 32bit version?
Warm regards,
Boyd.
Dear Khun Boyd,
Thank you for your mail, thank you for your mail and as I see that other IT Managers might have the same question, I send the answer to everyone.
1) Do we need to re-install every computer to comply? No!
The client computer setup standard takes effect for every new computer installation or re-installation. You don’t need to re-install the existing computers to follow the standard if they work fine at the moment. We acknowledge that full compliance will be gradual. However there are two points you need to follow up even with existing computers: 1) Change the user permission to ensure no user is local administrator and 2) make sure front office cannot connect USB drives to the computer.
2) Is 64bit making the low-memory computer slower than 32bit? We are not aware of this
The future of every application and system is 64bit which also runs on computer with less than 2GB of RAM.
Best regards,
Andi
