To ensure that you and your department have a smooth transition during your time away from work, make sure you have a plan in place several weeks prior to your projected due date or adoption date. You'll want to:
Meet with your Line Manager to discuss your leave plans to determine who will be handling your work during your leave and how you wish to be contacted if necessary.
Provide a summary of the projects you are working on.
Meet with the coworker who will be handling your duties to answer any questions he or she may have regarding your projects.
Organize your desk and computer files, handle all outstanding emails and voicemails, and make arrangements for how emails and voicemails will be handled in your absence.
