The developed model of knowledge transfer highlights the need to address a number of
questions prior to the implementation of a transfer mechanism:
B Who needs the knowledge (receiver)?
B What units (in the supply chain) are involved in the knowledge transfer process?
B What is the most appropriate ‘‘source’’ to acquire the required knowledge (awareness)?
B What is/are the type(s) of knowledge to be transferred?
B How should it be transferred (modes of knowledge transfer)?
B What are the factors that will influence on the process of knowledge transfer and what is
their level of impact?
B What can we do to enhance the factors that positively influence on the process of
knowledge transfer and what can we do to avoid/lessen the impact of the factors that
negatively influence on the process of knowledge transfer?
B What mechanisms should be used by the receiver to ultimately utilise the knowledge?
B Did the knowledge transfer process successfully achieve its goals (performance
measurement)?
