Recently spent 4 nights and 3 days at The Chill Resort on Koh Chang to recharge our batteries after the rush of Christmas. As a family of 4 with 2 young children we now usually have to book 2 rooms and whenever we make a booking we always request interconnecting rooms. This doesn't always get through to the hotel and upon arrival we were disappointed again. No interconnecting rooms left. However, the hotel were upfront that they had not honoured our request and with minimal fuss (plus me saying, nicely, fix this) we were upgraded to a Pool Villa. The resort is small, boutique style, all white walls and grey concrete, but, it is nicely designed and although it is long and thin it is well thought out. Its position on the beach is it's draw card - the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen. Staff were polite and helpful. No facilties to speak of for kids, but the accessibility of the safe and shallow beach makes up for this. Younger children might get bored though. Our villa was nice but had it's shortcomings. The flooring was marble which is a nightmare, especially with wet feet. The stairs were slippery and quite dangerous (my husband fell down them) so we were constantly on edge with our kids safety. The drains were often smelly and we had more mosquitos than we knew what to do with! Housekeeping were a bit slow but with a chase up call they showed up quickly.
The pools were lovely, but freezing, but that may be due to the time of year.
