Although there is no in depth study to prove this, it is a well known fact that employers in
these areas prefer to hire foreign workers since they can pay a lower wage than required by
law. If Thai workers want to apply for the jobs they must accept the same wage level or not
much higher. The reason why employers can get away with the minimum wage law is due
partly to the lack of strict and proper inspection and partly to the bribery given to the law
enforced officials.
