The contemporary artist Shepard Fairey, later known for his obama presidential campaign Hope poster, created a tabloid inspired sticker sporting the murky mug of a movie giant and the word "Obey' rendered in tabloid typography. The sticker was not created in the service of a particular cause, but used around the world to make people think about their own situations. With the advent of digital printing, the blurred, poorly registered tabloid photograph is mostly a thing of the past, yet its print-age look has joined with other pop sources, like comic books and cartoons, to furnish artists with a populist or anti- establishment visual vocabulary
