Summary
This exploration of achievement gaps focuses on the following
research question: To what extent do student-(particularly
race/ethnicity and SES) and school-level factors influence student
achievement? A sub-confirmatory question is part of the study: Do
impoverished urban White students perform at comparable levels to
impoverished urban Minority students? The question centers on how
school structures can have the most impact on achievement. Research
has been extensive on how minorities are impacted by school
structures, teaching pedagogy, and ensuing achievement gaps.
