The samples significantly absorbed water from day 1 until day 7 and constantly
until day 10. The OPT polymer composites of PF resin loaded absorbed from 10 to 35%
of water after being immersed for 10 days. It was observed that the highest water
absorption was obtained in the case of dried OPT, while rubberwood showed the lowest
water absorption. This was due to the fact that dried OPT contains a higher proportion of
parenchyma tissues, which leads to the greater affinity to absorb water compared to the
vascular bundles (Norralakmam 2007).
