Evidence from Caenorhabditis
elegans and human hepatoma cell lines indicates that
SREBP1 activation leads to increased expression of
enzymes involved in lipogenesis but also genes encoding
components of the one-carbon cycle, a pathway
involving folate and methionine metabolism to generate
the methyl donor S-adenosylmethionine, which is
required for the conversion of phosphoethanolamine
to phosphocholine
