The staffing reorganization was designed, in part, to increase connectedness between
undergraduate and subject librarians, creating new opportunities in support of student
learning. For instance, undergraduate librarians have teamed up with subject librarians
to introduce students to the notion of disciplinary research support in the Freshman
Cluster program, and librarians focusing on advanced undergraduate research are
exploring ways to partner with subject librarians to help students with capstones and
theses. Thanks to a strong partnership with the campus information technology unit,
Teaching and Learning Services has also successfully integrated its online library guides
with the learning management system at the subject and course level, providing teaching
faculty and students access to library collections at the point of need.
