In the present study, chamazulene was not
active against L3 larvae, whereas -bisabolol caused the death of
100% of the parasites at the three concentrations studied. Under
stereoscopic microscope, -bisabolol-treated larvae showed alterations
in cuticle and in digestive apparatus, more marked in the
ventricular area, which were not observed after chamazulene treatment.
Our findings are consistent with reports on the biocidal
activity of -bisabolol against other pathogen organisms; thus,
Brehm-Stecher and Jonson (2003) found that a low concentration
(0.5 mM) -bisabolol modified the permeability of Staphylococcus
aureus and Escherichia coli membranes. Pauli (2006)
