3.2. Effect of mulberry on liver function
Table 2 shows serum biochemical parameters that are involved in
liver and kidney function. The data revealed that the levels of ALT, TG
and BUN in Group II were significantly (Pb.05) higher than that of Group I. Consumption of mulberry or BE decreased the levels of AST,
ALT, TG and TC. Furthermore, supplementation with ME did not
influence the kidney function, as shown by the data for BUN and
creatinine. The ageing-related liver injury was significantly suppressed by the treatment with ME
