Taking into account the challenge to achieve a rapid and
homogeneous mixing in microchannels, numerical simulations are
envisaged to study the mixing effects induced by recirculation
phenomena. Both hydrodynamic and diffusional behaviors are
characterized along a zigzag microchannel as a function of
geometrical parameters and Reynolds number. For one zigzag
configuration, a critical Reynolds number emphasizing recirculations
is quantified. Generation of back flows and the resulting
impact on the hydrodynamic behavior are particularly investigated
