As the residual glucose approached 0, the concentration of mycelia started to decrease with the rise in pH due to autolysis. The rates of the cordy-cepin production and the cell growth seem to be rather different from each other. Henceforth, the culture was continued for 12 days after the exhaustion of the glucose in order to get a reliable maximal cordycepin concentration, when necessary
