2.1. Rice samples
Paddy-rice samples (KDML 105 variety) were obtained from
three different growth sites in the Tung Kula Rong-Hai region
(Roi-Et province), in northeastern Thailand as described in Table
1. These grains were milled to separate husk from brown rice
and germ was manually removed from brown rice but not included
in the analysis. Then the brown rice was polished to obtain milled
rice and bran. All fractions, exception the bran, were ground and
passed through a 500 lm sieve screen. Moisture was determined
by drying at 110 C to constant mass. This and all other analysis
were performed using triplicate samples and analytical results
were expressed on a dry matter basis. The samples were stored
at 20 C prior to analysis.
