Is setting a quota like 30% the best way to attain an increase
I'm not a very big fan of numerical targets. Though, of course, as a business executive, you do need to have numerical targets. [But] I don't want to get results by meeting quotas by filling positions just because they are women. If based on a fair and proper assessment of merit, the number of women will rise naturally. But japan's current conditions are so horrible that target are absolutely necessary until women can compete on an equal footing.
