DHARAMSHALA: Pilgrimage to the Manimahesh shrine, situated in the Pir Panjal ranges of Himalayas in Chamba district at an altitude of 13,500 feet, is reaching out to global citizens, using computer technology and internet for the first time. Alarmed by the Uttarakhand tragedy, Himachal Pradesh authorities here claimed that they have succeeded in developing a first such tourist tracking system, sending a positive signal to the world outside.
According to sources, authorities have identified various internet accessible points on the tough and rocky route to Manimahesh, where special counters have been set up and data of tourists for the two-way journey is being updated on real time basis.
Besides, weather forecast and details of shrine/pilgrimage activities are also being updated on the internet which is accessible to pilgrims and devotees across the globe, they said.
