In France and Belgium, people do not like uncertainty and
this reaction is clearly shown in their interactions with other
people. Bureaucracy is over exaggerated. Everything is
formalised, rules are set up and cannot be changed.
Usually when someone enters a new company he or she
receives a leaflet explaining him or her the habits of the
company from A to Z with all the rules which have to be
respected. Sometimes the leaflet also indicates at what
time the employee is allowed to eat or who he or she
should call depending on the problem or the question he or
she has to ask. Belgian and French are well known to have
“specific papers and experts for everything”vii
